1.
Bend my body to its agony Compromise that proves illusory Letters sent first class to my door Juvenile nursery rhyme Sent by a first class whore I sell myself short I sell myself In my slaughterhouse of screams With my abbatoir dreams The dignity I gave conversation Belied the day's malaise And punctured my persuasion Barbed words fall anaemic into a pregnant silence Where they'll boil and arise Into an act of violence Carved with a bayonet of coarse regret Your signature embedded on all I see Before you make me the smartest man in the morgue I'll bend you to your agony
2.
Slow movement on the right Moment not even a slight Twinkle in your eyes to say I'm right In bondage so goes the pose And now you're in the throes Where did your plumage go - to waste? I couldn't do it Now washed and time dried Of your touch and sweet lies Brass cocoon for the cavalier Your welcomed abuse An ark for the excuse Kick back my support and I'm falling I couldn't do it You'll err and there I'll lurk I hope it doesn't work out I hope it doesn't work out I hope it doesn't work out

4.
Martini glass super plume exposé Inner lip scar ear-marked papal bull Who wants to be an orchestra Resigned to playing one lone note? The crude becomes an elixir Reducing my Beethoven to phlegm Panacea has died in a hospital bed Solemn and simple she drifts away Meet these criteria or meet our disdain Your uniform is locked-in Jean Dominique The crude becomes an elixir Reducing my Beethoven to phlegm Comedy can crucify In far greater style than drama ever could It gives a meaning to all the things That aren’t so easily understood So laugh at me and I’ll laugh right back Slap our knees and eachother’s back The shame I feel, such a hypocrite But at least I’m ashamed of it I suppose At least I’m ashamed of it
5.
Play ‘Rumble’ on the fringe For the skilled not educated Orphans on assembly lines Uniform songs and horseless chariots The Cold War rocket ship Crippled and folded Keys at The Plaza choke on dust The crime rate is only high When it happens to you Immunity to community Martha will speak Souls are swaying They’re leaving home Arrested by a riot of chrome Highland Park is decaying And the Pioneers have no more ideas I don’t know my geography but I know where I am I’m in and amongst this Panzer white-wash And the colours don’t run Some old timer stood in line Wheels made him question what he was doin’ The city done gone BOOM BOOM – so did he A plant flourished from within ruin Souls are swaying They’re leaving home Arrested by a riot of chrome Paradise Alley is decaying The Pioneers have no more ideas

about

Recorded at 2 Tyne View Place over the third weekend of July 2011

James Baxter of Narc wrote in No.67 - October 2011:

'Slightly shonky recording aside - which is not a complaint, just a fact - The Dhamma Brothers left-of-field offering This Wretch The Wolf Already Tears (answers on a postcard about what the hell that title means) is more than diverting. Long instrumental passages give this a post-rock vibe, but when the vocals kick in, it's clear the band are also in thrall to the darker edges of grunge. The weird names don't stop with the EP title too. Michael Buerk is not unlike a stripped back Kerbdog, whilst Beethoven to Phlegm is an 8-minute epic that never loses the listener's attention.'

Thanks to:

Cath and Phil Tyler

Tony Clifton/Clarence Boddicker/The Tortoise from The Three Amigos/The Four Tops/Diana Ross/Stevie Wonder/The Jackson Five/Smokey Robinson for all being so kind as to volunteer their services for the making of this EP. I told you I'd give you a shout out!
